In 2002 Deborah founded AzureTax Consulting, later incorporating AzureTax Ltd, Chartered Tax Advisers, in Hong Kong.  AzureTax ltd is now one of the leading independent international tax advisory practices in Hong Kong and Singapore, with over 20 Professional staff, providing high value added tax advisory services to over 1,000 tax clients.  It is the only tax practice filing UK tax returns in Hong Kong, through the on-line UK Government gateway.

Due to client demand, in 2005, she also founded AzureTrustees Ltd  易道信託有限公司, a Registered Trustee Company based in Hong Kong. 

Prior to setting up her own professional international tax advisory practice, Deborah headed tax structuring for North Asia for The Citibank Group Private Bank, based in Hong Kong. 

Ms Annells held director/partnership level positions for international accounting firms in Hong Kong and the United Kingdom; and has resided in Hong Kong for the last 15years.

She is a well-known commentator and writer on international corporate and personal tax and trust structuring issues and contributes to several international taxation publications. Her views are sought by the media and she is regularly quoted.  For many years she had contributed to the CCH International Tax Planning Manual.  Ms Annells has also authored two publications on Hong Kong tax planning.

Ms Annells holds a BSc Degree from the London School of Economics.  She is a Fellow of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants and a Fellow of the Taxation Institute in Hong Kong.  She is qualified as a Chartered Accountant in England Wales, and is a Chartered Tax Adviser (Fellow) with the United Kingdom Chartered Institute for Taxation, and is the only overseas resident member of their Executive Committee.  She is also an Associate of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.  She is also an International Freeman of the City of London.
